Road Trip! Day 1, Part 1

Hey! I know I’ve been absent for months. Sorry about that. Liam is a very active, very involved, very needy kid and I love spending every minute I can with him. So blogging has been the last on my list. But I’m going to start again since we’re going to be far from family and friends again. Plus, it’s important to me to document our journey across the US as we move our whole family to San Diego. So, hi again! Let’s get started.

Woke up this morning in Dahlgren. We were staying at my parent’s house over the weekend but decided to get a hotel for Sunday night so we didn’t have to wake Liam at 5am to get Ryan to base on time. The “plan” was to have him check out and go, which is what happened but thanks to someone dropping the ball, the process took about 5 hours longer than we expected. Thank goodness for that hotel room! Otherwise we would’ve been sitting in the van that whole time. Ugh.

We are finally underway now though. 2pm and about to hit Fredericksburg. Our goal is Bristol, VA tonight depending on how Liam is. He’s not a fan of his carseat, to put it mildly. (He does sleep in it occasionally) We’d like to drive 7-8 hours a day to get there as quickly as possible. But the nice part is we have up to 8 travel days paid for by the Navy, so our minimum is 350 miles or about 5 hours. We’ll swing through Nashville, Memphis, Little Rock, Dallas, on through southern New Mexico and Arizona and then San Diego! I’ll be taking lots of pictures along the way and try to post as often as possible for anyone interested in how the trip is going.

Here goes nothing! πŸ™‚

Don’t worry. That remote was thoroughly disinfected. It is, after all, the dirtiest thing in your hotel room.
