Happy Mother’s Day

Since we sometimes get forgotten in the shuffle, to all my fellow birthmothers out there, Happy Mother’s Day!

My family is always really great at including me in the celebration- sending cards (Quang has sent one every single year for the past 13 years… what an amazing brother.), giving me flowers (my wonderful husband always recognizes this is a special day for me and gives me a card & flowers), sending texts and phone calls. I know my role as a birthmom isn’t as challenging as that of a real mother but I really do appreciate the sentiment and being recognized for all that I have done for my son. I did carry him for 8 months, nourishing him and caring for him while I could.

My little doppleganger

I honestly cannot wait to have a child with Ryan and get to experience motherhood as it was intended. My family can all vouch for the fact that I pretty much came out of the womb wanting to be a mom so I’m fairly certain the day I can really and truly be referred to as a Mom will be the single greatest day of my entire life.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful, strong, amazing, beautiful women in my life. (My Momma especially!) Thank you for setting the example for me and I will be honored to follow in your footsteps someday soon.
