Born to Run

I have a confession to make. A while back, in this post, I poo-pooed something called Sweaty Bands… I am here to tell you that I was WRONG. Dead wrong! These things are unbelievable and amazing and I don’t know how I ever worked out without one on my head. I have seen the light! I promise you will too, if you’ll just give them a chance.

See, I went to Team Nashville last week to pick up a new pair of kicks. My running shoes had hit their limit. The kind gentleman there fitted me with a new pair of Brooks “Launch”, which by the way are the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever had the pleasure of wearing. I’ve worn Asics for awhile and slimming down to a more streamline, lightweight shoe like Brooks has done wonders for my long runs.

Anyway… so as I was checking out I noticed a display with the Sweaty Bands. I was pretty excited because I’ve never actually seen them in person, I’ve only contemplated purchasing them online for like 3 years (this is not an exaggeration). I tried one and was immediately sold. See, what makes the things so damn amazing is the fabric that is against your hair. It’s a very fine felt like materials that does.not.move. It doesn’t slip! It grips! It does its job and holds my hair back! Thank you sweet baby Jesus in the manger.

Here is photographic evidence that I not only purchased a Sweaty Band, but wore it to work out. This is after a 5 mile run. I never adjusted it ONCE! Not even at the very end to take this very photo.

And just an FYI, your eyes are not playing tricks on you. I do not, in fact, have any eyebrows to speak of. I’ve had Hashimoto’s Thyroid disease for about 15 years which all but completely eradicated the poor little guys. I draw them on for special occasions but otherwise, I just run around town looking like a bit of a freak. I’m over it, you should be too.

Now, today just happens to be your very lucky day because I am going to tell you about not one, not two but THREE of my very favorite things because I cannot contain my excitement. Plus, it’s a running themed day and I have nothing else to do on a Saturday night.

I told you about my new shoes, my amazing Sweaty Band, and now I will tell you about the best socks you will ever put on your feet. They are called Feetures! and honest to goodness, they feel like cashmere. But the most amazing thing about these socks is their seamless toe. When I ran the 12 mile trail race I ended up getting blisters on both of my big toes. Not a surprise because my cheap-o Target socks have seams the size of my thumb on the toe. These do not have that problem and thus, are God’s gift to runners. They also have great arch support which is key because I have really high arches and love a snug fit. I got the Light (weight), No Show, Tab (on the back for easy on and off) in blue and white.

I want to wear these all day and night but but I also don’t want to wear them out and make them all old and stretchy. I’m weird.

And there you have it- three awesome things that make my running life absolutely enjoyable. Now, if I could just get Jaclyn to send me a mix CD, I’ll be in business!

If you have the urge to purchase any of the things that I’ve mentioned, click on the picture which should take you to Amazon. Sweaty Bands has a better selection on their website but I get a very small amount of dough if you purchase through one of my affiliate links. So, you know… keep that in mind. You can support a military family!

Other than my shameless plug for Amazon affiliate links, I was not paid or compensated in any way for my reviews or extremely positive opinions in this post. I just love to share my love for really great stuff with the people in my life. There’s so much crap out there (most of it being shit, poor quality, overpriced, etc) so when I come across something I feel is worth my hard-earned money, I want to pass it along to as many people as I can. Feel the love, my friends.

I’m going to have to try those socks… I’m real picky about the socks I wear to work out…. Pretty funny that the most expensive part of my wardrobe is my running gear! 🙂
