Day 1- Stuff I Love & Our First Giveaway!

Who’s pumped?!? This girl. Today is the first official giveaway on my blog and I’m super excited and kinda nervous.

Truth? I’m wondering if anyone will participate. I mean, I know that I love free stuff and I’m fairly certain that there are at least three readers out there so maybe we’ll have a showing. 🙂

Let’s get started, shall we??

It all started with this post here over with my homies, Young House Love. (Disclaimer: they are not really my homies, but I like to think they are. We do Tweet back and forth sometimes. On second thought, I think that does make us Homies.)

Anyway… they were featuring Jessica Rose with Vol.25 and her super cute artwork. Seriously, look at her stuff listed on Etsy:

Unfortunately, I didn’t win that particular contest but I did fall in love with Jessica’s style. I mean, how could you not?

I contacted her in November about doing a custom piece because I absolutely Love her stuff. And after many many emails back and forth, we finally got our act together and she drew this for me:

She’s been really busy lately and can’t take custom orders but since I waited so patiently, she was kind enough to whip up this bad boy for Ryan and I. {love her}

As you can see, this is my blog’s namesake. Together We Are Home… no matter where home may be. And for us, as a Navy family, home will be a lot of places.

I also got this sweet print which is hanging in our living room.

So in honor of Day 1- Stuff I Love I’m giving away one of Jessica’s prints from her Etsy shop, valued at $24.

I chose this one because it pays homage to our blog and as it hangs on the wall of one lucky winner’s home, I hope it reminds you of what is truly important in this life.

Details about the print via Jessica’s Etsy shop:

I love her stuff and the guitar one…. WHOA my son has like THAT guitar. I need to buy one from her immediately. Awesome.

  2. Joni says:

OH shoot haha. I forgot to say.. THIS is my favorite place. Right here. Right now.

  3. Some would think that my favorite place that I called home was Hawaii ..but my fav place was Oklahoma where I was born and all of my family lives. THERE IS NOTHING to do there and it’s super boring haha BUT it’ll always be my home.
I LOVE your blog and I subscribed to your RSS feed.
You rock more then you know!

  4. liz says:

My grandma and grandpa’s farm. It always felt like home. With lemonade and jello pudding pops by the pool.

  5. Amber Foster says:

I’m enjoying your blog…and LOVE Jessica’s artwork so thanks for introducing me to that!

My favorite place to call “home” outside of the places I have lived, was NYC for a week when I was volunteering with HIV/AIDS patients for an alternative Spring Break. I never feel as “alive” as I do when in the city…there is just something about NY that sets my soul on fire. It will be a more permanent home one day…though likely as a dual-resident since my husband is happy in VA!

  6. carrie says:

My favorite place I called home was Santa Monica, CA. I miss it everyday. 🙂 Love your blog, Missy! It and you are adorable.

  7. Anywhere the love of my life is …. I’m home! 🙂 Home IS where the heart is.

  8. Cindy A. says:

Aw, this is such a sweet giveaway. Many thanks to you and Jessica for giving us the chance to win.

My favorite place was my aunt and uncle’s house. I lived with them for several years & always had the best time there. Especially when they let me have biscuits & homemade chocolate syrup for breakfast. Shhh! 😉

  9. Cindy A. says:

I follow you via Yahoo reader. 🙂

  10. Clara says:

I wasn’t sure if it would let me or if I had to be some sort of special subscriber/follower. I have to say, my favorite place to have called home is right on Prince William Drive! It’s so very special to have such good friends who live right across the street, especially over the number of years our families have lived there. It’s a beautiful thing too because I can go for months without being home and upon returning, it’s like nothing has changed. The change as I’ve grown up too — to see the wonderful people your younger siblings have become, has all shaped why I still love returning home!

  11. Anne says:

First of all I just have to tell you Missy that I LOVE your blog. I read it everyday and look forward to your next posting! You inspire me in so many ways!
Ok as to this contest, what a cute idea! I can see why your in love with the art!
So my “home” would have to be at my old Station house in VA. I lived in that house for 17 years and I have soooooooo many memories there. Some with you 🙂 Everyday I try to make our home now the same way for my kids. home is everything, your haven and your memory maker! Love you girl and you amaze me everyday! 🙂 Hugs xoxoxo

  12. Michelle says:

Want. Want. Want. And if I don’t win, I’m buying it. I want this hanging in my first home 🙂

  13. Melissa Best says:

My most favorite place is my current home in Chesapeake, VA. My husband and I bought it…our first home after our townhouse…and we now have our three beautiful children! They love this house tremendously!

  14. Kendra says:

OK, OK I give in!!! Of course I have been reading your blog all along but I thought it would be unfair for family to participate in the giveaway BUT with only 8 people I figured I’d spice it up a little and make it 9. 😉

Soooo, my favorite place to call home would have to be an unofficial home of mine, Charleston. I loved when I would go visit your brother and we’d be out and I could say “let’s go home” without even a blink he knew where I meant. That city is filled with some of my best memories to date.

    So there!

Oh and PS SIL, American Apparel has some similar headbands to sweatybands with that amazing fabric that grips onto your hair without damaging it. I am not sure what you paid for the sweatyband in store (and I thought Mom was going to buy you that one ;-)) but the ones at American Apparel are $5 maybe.

  15. Jess Voigt says:

You are adorable! 🙂 you continue to inspire me! I agree with this new lifestyle where ever the heck we end up home is definitely together! My favorite place is Fort Myers! Not because I love Florida or because it’s been fun, but because it’s where I met Paul and we started our lives together… What about you?!?!

  16. Having moved all over the country, I can honestly say that the place I love most calling home is wherever my family is!

  17. Carin says:

Oh I LOVE that print!! Over my 13 year marriage, my husband and I and our kids (as they have arrived) have lived in 8 different homes–in 4 different countries–if this saying has ever been true for a family–it’s us! My favorite place I have ever called home is my parent’s house that I grew up in–they still live in that house on Griswold Street–39 years! Anyway, thanks for the giveaway!
    blessings,
    Carin

  18. Carin says:

I have subscribed to your blog feed for a second entry because I really want that print!!!

  19. Ashlee McAdams says:

My favorite place to call home is Louisville, KY… Why you ask? It has a down-home feel & everyone says “Hello”, but it also has a modern, city vibe. It’s the best of both worlds! =)

  20. Jessica Bills says:

My favorite place that I ever called home was my first tiny apartment with my brand new husband. All we had was a air matress and a computer, but we had a house and each other. I loved that home!

  27. Cute blog!!! I love it. Well, let’s see…my favorite place I have called home would be in Damascus, VA. It was actually our smallest home, a 2 bedroom 1 bath….BUT, it was a cabin style home, on the river, and if anyone knows about Damascus, they know it’s a trail town right off the Appalacian Trail. GORGEOUS little town. I miss that place. 🙂

  28. Jessica Bills says:

  36. taradphotography says:

Man I’ve had my eye on this print for quite some time now. Excited about the 40% off code too 🙂

Hmm… lots of great places I’ve called home. Seriously anywhere with my husband is the best. I think I would say our short stay in MA for a year is my favorite place we’ve called home. Partly because I am an AZ native and have never lived away from home. We were newly married and it was a big deal to move away. It was there our marriage was strengthened and an awesome foundation was laid for years to come.

  37. taradphotography says:

Just added you to my google reader! Thanks for hosting this giveaway 🙂

  40. Corinne says:

My husband and I used to live in this old school caravan on an island called the isle of Skye off the mainland of Scotland when we were travelling and working through Europe it was freezing as all buggery but the view you woke up to every morning made the numbness in your toes worth while!!!

  41. Corinne says:

I’m now also a very happy subscriber to your blog 🙂

  42. mere... says:

My favorite place I’ve ever called home would have to be the sailboat my husband and I owned when we were first married. Although we are landlocked homeowners now, I still remember waking up on the ocean, and coming home to the first place that was “ours.”

  49. Jenette says:

Oh I love her art work!! I have wanted to buy some for a while! My favorite home is now. We lost our last home because our landlord was not paying for the house with the rent we paid. So we had to move! But I am so happy we did! Love this place!

The favorite place I’ve called home is Eastern Montana. It’s really never been my home, but both of my parents are from there and I’ve always thought about it as a part of me. We went there every summer, driving for hours and hours from Iowa to visit my grandparents and my aunts, uncles & cousins. There’s just something about it that makes it right for me.
