Thankful – Day 4

St. Patrick’s Day has special meaning for me because on March 17, 1998 I met my son’s future adoptive family.  And so today, I am thankful for them.

Aden, my (almost) 13 year old son and his amazing family have been gracious and generous enough to allow me and my enormous family to be a part of their lives ever since our first meeting, so many years ago. Watching Aden grow from the very beginning in my belly to now a teenager is nothing short of amazing. I am humbled by the fact that I am actively in his life and know not many birthmothers are given such a gift.

Aden is such a sweet kid with an enormously kind heart. I cherish our relationship and love him dearly. Thank you O’Ds for being amazing parents and always welcoming me with open arms.

Your post brought tears to my eyes, and to your father’s. It confirmed again the way God worked to weave a beautiful tapestry from the messy raw materials we gave Him. I, too, am so thankful for the O’Donoghue family.
